In the middle of Cinderella"s life
menopause arrives, unexpected
as midnight at her first ball.

Surrounded by whirling young women
she hesitates on the dance floor;
a mature king offers his arm.

Sustained by an old-fashioned tune,
she waves off the coach, and they glide 
together in three-quarter time.
